Australian lender ANZ is set to cut 3,500 jobs in a strategy revamp under former HSBC banker Nuno Matos, who took over as chief executive earlier this year.

The cuts, which will take place over the next year, are designed to “reduce duplication and internal complexity”, according to a 9 September statement from the bank.
