European lawmakers are pushing for the establishment of a task force to look at ways to regulate blockchain use, amid worries the technology may become so widespread that it poses a systemic risk.

The initiative, called Task Force DLT, would be led by the European Commission and would be involved at both a member state and European level in overseeing new applications of distributed ledger technology, according to a draft motion to be put before the European Parliament.
