Egypt helps Merrill top emerging market bond league table

The Egyptian government's recent Eurobond issue has catapulted Merrill Lynch to the top of the emerging market bond bookrunners' table.

Merrill Lynch, which managed Egypt's jumbo $1.5bn (€1.8bn) debut Eurobond alongside Morgan Stanley, has taken over as the leading underwriter of emerging market bonds in Emerging Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Eemea), according to Thomson Financial.
