EEX systems failure hits electricity trading

A systems failure at the Leipzig-based European Energy Exchange (EEX) caused chaos in the European electricity markets on Wednesday.

The integrated spot and derivatives market for electricity was unable to calculate its Phelix electricity index properly during trading hours.
