‘Double mutant’ Covid-19 variant detected in UK

Public Health England said that 77 cases had been identified in the country

A new “double mutant” strain of Covid-19 has been detected in the UK, Public Health England said. 

In a 15 April update, PHE said that 77 cases of the variant, which was first detected in India, had been identified.
