Davos becomes a snoozefest as bankers ‘struggle to find a party that goes past 7pm’

The usually buzzing Grandhotel Belvédère — the venue of choice for banks including Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America — is subdued this year

Big bashes at Davos were once commonplace. Not anymore. Gone from this year’s World Economic Forum are the once-ubiquitous scenes of bankers, officials and other elites sipping free-flowing drinks and fancy canapés late into the night.

After a two-year hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic, glitzy soirées have been replaced with gatherings that follow a strict 6pm to 8pm schedule.
