Novartis, the Swiss pharmaceuticals company, has acquired the worldwide adult medical nutrition business of Mead Johnson & Company for $385m (€312m).

A statement from Novartis said that the acquisition gives it "a strong presence in the fast-growing US retail channel for medical nutrition products."
