In case we needed any more indication that a UK central bank digital currency is firmly on the horizon, the Bank of England is planning to significantly bolster the number of staff working on the project.

Tom Mutton, director of the Bank’s central bank digital currency operation, told Financial News he wants to hire as many as 30 people as it moves into the design phase of a potential Britcoin in the second half of 2023.
