Commonfund, the US asset management firm, has scored a coup with the appointment of Nicholas De Monico, a leading hedge fund expert formerly of Citigroup, to head its alternative investment practice.

He will take responsibility for managing Commonfund's marketable alternative funds of funds, including its hedge, absolute return, index and global hedged programs.
