Stephen Cohen has been appointed director of European sales and business development at Putnam Investments, leading the US-based firm's institutional and retail sales efforts.

He has signed up after deciding to quit Zurich Scudder Investments following the decision of its owner, Zurich Financial Services, to sell its US-based Scudder arm last year.
