CME profit climbs 22%

US derivatives exchange benefits from market volatility

CME Group's second-quarter earnings rose 22%, and adjusted results topped analysts' forecasts, as the world's biggest operator of derivatives exchanges again benefited from increased volume.

Chief executive Craig Donohue noted that volume rose in every asset class amid "highly volatile conditions."
