Chelsea’s private equity owners have been hit with a £90m loss before tax in their first year in control of the football club.

US buyout shop Clearlake Capital teamed up with financial mogul Todd Boehly in 2022 to buy the west London team for £2.5bn, breaking the record sum paid for a football club.
