Citi’s stock is talk of Wall Street as analysts scrutinise CEO Fraser’s performance

The bank’s fourth-quarter earnings are due on 15 January, a chance for the chief executive and her team to update investors on their turnaround effort

As Jane Fraser enters her fourth year as chief executive of Citigroup, the Wall Street analysts tracking her progress are telling investors that they have high hopes for the stock. Some bank analysts have named it their top pick, or among their favorites, for 2025.

They are placing asterisks next to those rosy expectations. Variables range from continuing efforts to fix regulatory problems to uncertainty over just how positive the incoming administration’s agenda will be for banks.
