Citi appoints new head of corporate banking

Executive at bank’s Japanese business is taking over from Michael Roberts, who was recruited by HSBC in July

Citigroup has promoted a top executive from its team in Japan to become its new global head of corporate banking.

Jason Rekate, co-head of Citi’s banking, capital markets and advisory division in Japan, will relocate to New York, according to a memo seen by Financial News. He replaces Michael Roberts, who was recruited to lead HSBC’s US business this summer.
