Lobby group the Confederation of British Industry has appointed former Serco chief executive Rupert Soames as its next president as it seeks to draw a line under a scandal-hit period.

Soames will work with outgoing president Brian McBride before taking over the role early in the new year, the CBI said on 5 December.
