Cantor Fitzgerald names seven new MDs in technology push

The bank has taken on nine new bankers focused on technology in recent months

Cantor Fitzgerald has made a major bet on technology dealmaking with the appointment of seven managing directors focused on the sector across the US and UK.

The investment bank, which focuses on mid-market deals, has hired nine senior bankers focus on the tech sector in total, it said in a statement. It took on Cole Bader as global head of technology investment banking in November, and has added 25 bankers across the business in recent years, it said.

In London, the bank has named Ben May as a managing director within technology, media and telecoms coverage. He previously led the division at Berenberg, where he spent nearly 12 years.

Cantor has also named, Mark Baillie, as a managing director focused on software in New York. He joins from Stifel, as does Stephen Butkow, who will work on industrial technology deals.

Bryan Dow joins as a managing director in San Francisco, and will also be focused on industrial tech deals. He also joins from Stifel, where he was co-head of electronics and industrial technology.

Meanwhile, Jason Harkness joins from Barclays as a managing director focused on internet and related software deals and Karan Kapoor as a senior dealmaker working on software deals. Both are based in San Francisco.

Former UBS dealmaker, Mike Rosso, who was latterly at SVB Securities, has joined as a managing director in its private placements unit. Cantor Fitzgerald has also hired two directors: Eduard Keller and Austin Swank.
