BTG Pactual hires Andean economist

BTG Pactual, the Brazilian bank, has hired Rodrigo Valdés as chief economist for the Andean region. Joining at the start of 2013, Valdés will step down from his current role as deputy director of the IMF's European department. He is a former director of research and chief economist at the Chilean Central Bank and a former Latin America chief economist at Barclays Capital.
