British Airways (BA) is closing its two final salary pension schemes with values totalling nearly £10bn (€16bn) to new members.

The New Airways Pension Scheme (NAPS) and Airways Pension Scheme (APS) showed an accounting shortfall of £394m at the end of March this year under controversial accounting standard FRS17.
