The Blackstone Group has appointed Manish Mittal, a former managing director of hedge fund Perry Capital, as a senior managing director and chief investment officer.

Mittal will be based in New York and lead Blackstone's new long/short equity investment strategy, which is targeting around $1bn (€820m) assets under management to begin with. He is the fourth hedge fund manager Blackstone has hired recently.
