Blackstone Group has begun the process of building an infrastructure investing team, plucking Trent Vichie and Mike Dorrell from Macquarie Securities, joining a growing trend of buyout houses forming infrastructure teams to take advantage of abundant leverage in the sector.

Vichie and Dorrell will co-head the infrastructure team, according to a source close to the firm.
