Blackstone Group has appointed the former secretary general of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as chairman of its French business, as the alternative asset manager looks to expand in France and elsewhere in Europe.

Gerard Errera will become chairman of Blackstone France, having previously sat on Blackstone's Paris-based international advisory board as a special advisor.
