German investment bank Berenberg has scrapped a mandatory requirement for its junior staff to undertake the Chartered Financial Analyst qualification amid increased scrutiny on the financial sector's toughest test.

Berenberg, which has a large stable of research analysts within its UK headquarters on Threadneedle Street in the City of London, told employees that studying for the CFA qualification was now optional for its juniors.
