Barclays Capital has extended its recruitment push with four senior hires in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including a former Lehman Brothers rainmaker who most recently ran buyout giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' Middle East and North Africa operations.

A source familiar with the hires said Makram Azar, KKR's head of Middle East and North Africa, is joining BarCap to build the bank's contacts with sovereign wealth funds and strengthen its investment banking coverage in the Gulf region.
