Banks appeal Romanian float decision

UBS and ING have lodged an appeal with the Romanian government over its decision last week to award a $1bn (€826m) privatisation mandate for telephone company Romtelecom to Credit Suisse First Boston.

The banks, which made a joint pitch for the mandate, argue that their bid was cheaper and technically superior to Credit Suisse First Boston's and that they should have won the mandate instead.
