Banking lobby chief resigns over sexist comments to be revealed in Staveley case

Jones is due as a witness in the £1.5bn High Court case in July

Stephen Jones, chief executive of the banking lobby group UK Finance, has resigned his post ahead of his alleged remarks about financier Amanda Staveley coming to light in court.

Staveley is currently suing Barclays, Jones’s former employer, in a £1.5bn High Court case centred on her involvement in the bank’s emergency cash calls in 2008.
