Bank regulator in praise of derivatives

The derivatives industry received strong support last week from John Hawke, the US Comptroller of the Currency, when he testified before the Senate.

Hawke, whose agency regulates US banks, was outspoken about the benefits derivatives had brought to the US banking industry.
