The UK's major banks are well positioned to weather sharp economic downturns, including a chaotic exit from the European Union, according to the Bank of England.

The central bank today revealed the results of its annual round of stress testing on the likes of Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, Royal Bank of Scotland and Standard Chartered.
