AstraZeneca defends vaccine after Netherlands and Republic of Ireland join countries quitting jab

Pharma said studies showed its jab presented ‘no increased risk’ of blood clots

AstraZeneca has insisted its Covid-19 jab is safe for use, after five countries suspended vaccinations using the pharmaceutical firm’s treatment following an increase in blood clot concerns.

The Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland joined the list of countries temporarily halting use of the AstraZeneca shot on 14 March, alongside Norway, Denmark and Iceland.
