Alta Berkeley, the UK early-stage venture capital firm, is following the trend of recruiting industrialists with the appointment of Pete Magowan, a former board director of ARM Holdings, the information technology company.

Magowan spent 10 years at ARM, joining shortly after it launched. He made his mark establishing the ARM microprocessor as the industry standard for mobile phones.
