ABN Amro plots Italian bank bid

ABN Amro is understood to be preparing a takeover bid for Italy's Banca Antonveneta.

Rijkman Groenik, chief executive of ABN Amro, will meet Antonio Fazio, governor of Italy's central bank, today to discuss a possible bid according to the Dutch daily press Het Financieele Dagblad.
