UBS Warburg and Lehman Brothers have cemented their relationships with Abbey National by advising the UK financial services group on its potential takeover of Bank of Scotland.

Lehman was sole financial adviser to Abbey National on its £1.8bn (€2.9bn) acquisition of Scottish Provident, and UBS Warburg, which was advising one of the other bidders, has a long relationship with Abbey National.
